Description: The Predator-Prey program at Archbold Biological Station (ABS) is hiring an intern to support a new project called the Corridor Observatory. The Corridor Observatory is a funded project designed to examine wildlife species occupancy in the working landscape of South-Central Florida, a region where multiple critical landscape linkages converge to form ecological connections between South Florida and Central Florida. Interns in the Predator-Prey program gain experience in building and maintaining field equipment, managing large volumes of data, study design and analysis, and science communication.

Archbold intern appointments are typically for 9 months. Archbold interns play an important role in research and education programs and participate in a variety of tasks in the field and in the office. Archbold interns are provided an opportunity to design and develop an independent research project during their term at Archbold. Internships are intended to prepare budding scientists for graduate school and/or higher-level report writing required by other agencies. Interns will spend 20 hours/week assisting field and office projects, typically but not always Monday through Friday. Remaining time is to be dedicated to the intern’s independent research project. Interns will gain experience in many aspects of scientific research, from choosing projects, through experimental design and statistical analysis, to oral and written presentations.

Archbold Expeditions Internship Program:
The Archbold internship offers comprehensive training similar to that provided in educational institutions, including hands-on laboratory & field research experience. It is directly tied to the intern's formal education program and integrates coursework or academic credit. The schedule of the internship is designed to align with the academic calendar, accommodating the intern's academic commitments. Internship duration is limited to the period in which the intern receives valuable learning experiences. The intern's role is intended to complement the work of paid employees while providing significant educational benefits. It is mutually understood that the internship does not guarantee a paid job upon completion, and there is no expectation of compensation. Any indication of compensation would imply an employer-employee relationship.
